Success needs teamwork – how teams hold up under pressure
In professional football, it is not just individual performance that decides, but above all the interplay. A referee does not act in isolation either, but as part of a complex team of assistants, video referees and fourth officials. Every decision is the result of communication, trust and clearly defined roles – often under enormous time pressure and high expectations.
These dynamics are mirrored one-to-one in everyday business. Teams face demanding goals, high complexity and constant pressure to perform. Concealed mistakes, unspoken concerns, misunderstandings or a lack of coordination have a direct impact on results, motivation and collaboration.
In this keynote, Deniz Aytekin draws on his own experience to show what makes high-performance teams and why psychological safety, mutual appreciation and clear roles are crucial for staying capable in the long run. He makes clear that teamwork is not only a leadership task but requires the attitude and shared responsibility of every single team member. Open communication helps to share responsibility, spot mistakes early and make better decisions together.
Using examples from professional football and insights from behavioural and business psychology (including Amy Edmondson), the keynote shows how teams build trust, resolve conflicts constructively and establish a culture of collaboration.
This keynote impressively demonstrates that real collaboration is no accident, but the result of conscious leadership, clear structures and the active attitude of every team member – in business just as on the pitch.
